Matings between hairless Cresteds often produce the coated variety called “powder-puffs”.  These dogs are loyal, affectionate and make good companions.
The Chinese, with their love of toy dogs, are credited for reducing their size.

History:
The Chinese crested dogs is like many other breeds in that the exact origin is unsertain.
At first, the Hairless and Powderpuff varieties of Chinese Crested Dogs appear to be two different breeds. The Hairless is the more popular variety, prized for its lack of a fur coat. Instead, the Hairless has soft, humanlike skin, sensuous to the touch.
By the late 1800s, the Chinese crested was being exhibited and shown in the United States. Eventually, a breed standard was developed and a breeding program was established.

Height: 12 inches (30cm.)
Weight: not over 10 pounds (4.5kg)
The neck is gracefully arched with a broad deep chest.
The Hairless variety can be susceptible to acne and sunburn.
Temperament:
The muzzle is long with a slightly rounded head.
They are known to be great family pets, and have endearing personalities. They are known to be great with respectful childrens .Chinese Cresteds are affectionate, energetic, and playfuls .
